Cleaning and maintaining a floor can be a tough job, as it requires proper tools, precision and above all, the adequate knowledge of cleaning floors of any type. That’s why most people seek out for experts in cleaning services in St Louis. Irrespective of your floor type, hardwood floors or tiled ones, pollutants in the form of dust and fine particles will always act as abrasion. However, with proper cleaning and maintenance, you can avoid that pocket-heavy repairing cost for a long time.

Tips and Tools according to your Flooring Material:

1. VCT (Vinyl Composition Tile)

Tools Required: Mop, Emulsifier Solution, Floor machine, wet vacuuming.

A good thing about VCT is that it doesn’t require frequent cleaning as other flooring materials. However, if you see clouds of dust building-up, you have to take the measures as soon as possible. Start with dusting the floor with a mop and then clean it with an emulsifier solution. After applying the solution, let it settle down for at least 15 minutes. Then use a floor machine on it and wipe the floor post wet vacuuming. In case, you are a novice, you might consider hiring someone good at cleaning services in St Louis MO. As VCT does not need regular cleaning, exporting the task to a service provider will not reflect much on your monthly budget either.

2. Concrete

Tools Required: Dust Mop, Suds Cleaner, Scrubber

Concrete floors, unlike the VCT ones, require daily cleaning. When compared to VCT, the process involved in cleaning Concrete floors doesn’t require much of skills. Start simply with dusting the floor with a dust mop. Then use a low suds cleaning agent to cleanse the concrete and finish the process with an automatic scrubber.

3. Terrazzo

Tools Required: Dust Mop, Broom Sweep, wet mop, water-based sealer, floor pad and stone floor coating

You can consider cleaning your Terrazzo floors daily, weekly, quarterly, biannually or annually.

Use a good dust mop or a broom sweep for daily cleaning. Make sure you discard all the dirt properly and avoid their further accumulation.

When it comes to weekly cleaning, a wet mop will work just fine. If you opt for a quarterly cleaning process, then make sure you reseal the floor with a water-based sealer, after cleaning it.

On the other hand, Annual and Biannual cleaning require a gloss restoration process. Start with moping the floor with a dust mop system. After eliminating all the debris, use a rinse-free stripper to strip all the finish from the floor. Use a floor pad to prep the surface of the floor. Give a final addition to your floor with a stone floor coating agent.

4. Ceramic Tile:

Tools Required: Wet Mop System, automatic scrubber, deck brush, all-purpose cleaner, grout impregnators

Ceramic Tiles can be cleaned on daily, biweekly and an annual basis.

For daily cleaning, use a wet mop system, deck brush or an automatic scrubber to clean the surface.

Note: Never use Acidic Cleaning Agent on Ceramic Tiles.

For biweekly cleaning, use an all-purpose cleaner and scrub the grout deeply. If you decide to clean it annually, then apply a grout impregnator before mopping the floor.

While some flooring material can be cleaned without any expert help, some materials such as VCT, Terrazzo, and Ceramic Tiles require the touch of an expert. It will be much better to look out for some Cleaning Services in St Louis MO, rather than messing the floor quality with your half-knowledge cleaning expertise.
